Don’t think dermal fillers are for you? If you’re exploring non-surgical methods of facial rejuvenation, fillers are sure to be on your radar. You aren’t alone if you count them out due to their unnatural results, but fillers and application techniques have come a long way. When lip and facial fillers first rose to popularity the effect was anything but discreet. With a skilled aesthetic injector, it’s possible to achieve natural looking filler results, enhancing your features in a way that looks and feels like you.

What Is the Most Natural Looking Filler?

If you’re new to the world of dermal injectables, the first thing to learn is that different fillers deliver different results. For example, Juvéderm is available in 6 different volume-boosting formulas. There’s also Juvéderm Skinvive that smooths skin without plumping. Smoothing skin is achieved by injecting hyaluronic acid underneath the cheeks, to restore your youthful glow.

There’s no need to decide which filler is right for you on your own. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your aesthetic objectives and suggest which injectable or combination of treatments will deliver the desired results.

Types of Juvéderm

Valley Medical Weight Loss and Med Spa offers Juvéderm Skinvive and the Juvéderm fillers below:

Ultra

Ultra can help you achieve enhanced lip volume and a more youthful-looking smile. It can also help to reduce perioral lines (smoker's lines). Outcomes can last up to a full year, and patients can undergo additional treatments as needed.

Ultra Plus

Ultra Plus may not be the top choice for natural looking filler results. This is a thicker compound that is delivered deep into the dermis, and it can achieve more dramatic results in terms of fullness and lift than Ultra. It is useful for correcting vertical lip lines as well as creases and wrinkles elsewhere in the face.

Volbella

Volbella was created to address age-related volume loss in the lips. It can help the lips to retain more moisture, making them appear plumper and more youthful. Changes can last up to 12 months, and the formula comes with a built-in anesthetic for ultimate comfort.

Voluma

Voluma is engineered to restore fullness, definition, and vitality in the midface and cheeks. Many patients report looking up to 5 years younger after their injections. Results can typically be sustained for up to two years.

Vollure

Vollure is designed to boost volume and combat moderate to severe wrinkles, lines, and folds, with results that can last up to 18 months. With Vollure, discomfort and inflammation are significantly minimized.

Volux

Volux was designed to improve jawline definition for a more defined jaw and neck area. It is a safe, hyaluronic-acid-based gel that works to further define the jawline, slimming the appearance of the face and neck.

Skinvive

Skinvive infuses a smooth layer of hyaluronic acid microdroplets directly underneath your cheeks. This restores your youthful and dewy glow and promotes moisture retention. It also smooths your skin by restoring the natural volume loss that occurs when you lose your skin’s moisture layer.

Where Can Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Be Injected?

The latest generation of dermal fillers doesn’t only deliver natural looking filler results, they can be used for an impressive range of non-surgical anti-aging applications. Most fillers are injected in the lips, face, and neck to smooth, contour, and add volume. For example, when fine lines begin to form on the lips, filler can smooth these lines while adding volume. Or they can create the illusion of cheekbones. Or smooth laugh lines around your mouth.

In addition to Juvéderm, we offer Radiesse fillers and Sculptra. During your consultation, we’ll advise on the best filler and treatment plan to address:

  • Chin wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Hollow-looking temples
  • Laugh lines
  • Lip lines
  • Loss of definition in the jawline
  • Marionette lines
  • Midface volume loss
  • Nasal bridge or tip
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Neck lines
  • Smoker’s lines
  • Sunken eye sockets
  • Thinning lips
  • Volume loss in the cheeks
  • Weak chin
  • Wrinkled hands

Is Botox a Filler?

Botox is an aesthetic injection, but it’s not a filler. Botox works to relax muscle contractions to smooth fine lines and deeper creases. It can also be used for a growing range of non-aesthetic purposes.

Botox can smooth:

  • Glabellar lines (frown lines)
  • Forehead creases
  • Crow’s feet
  • Drooping brows
  • Bunny lines
  • Smile lines
  • Chin dimples
  • Corners of the mouth

How to Make Fillers Last Longer?

Dermal fillers last 6 to 18+ months depending on the formula you select. Results will fade gradually during this timeframe. We’ll provide you with post-care instructions to help extend your natural looking filler results. When you notice your volume beginning to fade you can schedule a touchup appointment.

Make your filler last longer by:

  • Managing your UV exposure: UV exposure can accelerate the rate at which your body breaks down and absorbs fillers. Avoid direct sunlight for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment. After the first 48 hours, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and wear hats when in direct sunlight. Overexposure to UV rays also breaks down collagen, intensifying and accelerating fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Maintaining your health: Stress and poor nutrition can also break down your fillers faster. So, drink plenty of water, eat a diet high in antioxidants, and consider taking antioxidant-rich supplements.
  • Tailoring your skincare routine: Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers boost collagen production to slow and reverse the visible signs of aging. In addition to wearing (and reapplying) sunscreen daily, you must maintain an anti-aging skincare routine. This includes cleansing morning and evening, a pH-balancing toner, an antioxidant-rich serum, and a hydrating moisturizer. Don’t forget products designed specifically for your lips, eyes, and neck.

Can You Correct Bad Filler?

Yes, bad filler can be corrected! If you asked for natural looking filler results and the results are anything but natural, you don’t have to wait 6 to 12 months for your filler to dissolve. How we correct botched filler depends on where it’s placed and how it’s botched.

We can correct:

  • Asymmetry
  • Overfilling
  • Puffy appearance
  • Bumps
  • Lumpiness
  • A distorted smile
  • The dreaded “duck lip”
  • Caved lip corners
  • Misshaped eyes
  • Any undesirable filler outcomes

We’ll likely correct your filler with 1 of 2 methods:

Hyaluronidase

This enzyme rapidly degrades and dissolves hyaluronic acid-based fillers. It selectively targets hyaluronic acid, without harming surrounding tissues. You’ll likely experience a bit of swelling after your corrective injection, but you’ll see visible results within 24 hours—and significant results within 48 hours.
You may require more than 1 corrective treatment to achieve desired results.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 is most often utilized for rejuvenating the skin, by remodeling, smoothing, and tightening. However, it can also be utilized for dissolving botched fillers on large treatment areas such as the cheeks.

Morpheus8 utilizes a combination of microneedling and radio frequency to rapidly degrade fillers. Results will take longer than hyaluronidase, but it may be the most effective option for correcting botched filler on the cheeks and face.

You’ll gradually start looking like yourself over the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Can You Use Filler on Thin Lips?

Yes! In fact, adding volume to thin lips is a top reason to turn to fillers. Also, to smooth the fine vertical lines that can form on the lips as you age. But your results won’t look natural if too much filler is injected. The thinner your lips, the more important it is to prioritize a tenured injector. To create volume without overfilling or the dreaded “duck lip” effect, we may utilize the micro-droplet method. This is the process of precision-injecting smaller amounts of hyaluronic acid to gradually add volume.

How to Ensure Natural-Looking Filler Results?

The tips below will help to ensure natural looking filler results. That said, if you want a more dramatic look, we can achieve that too!

#1 Vet Your Practitioner

Prioritize quality and credentials over cost. Yes, you can shop around, but the cost of correction and the stress and emotional toll of a botched filler isn’t worth it. In addition to verifying medical credentials, check online reviews, and review before and after photos. Valley Medical Weight Loss and Med Spa only uses high-quality FDA-approved fillers. #2 Understand Your Filler

It’s tempting to read about a filler online or ask a friend what filler they use and ask for the same filler. However, fillers are formulated to deliver different results. If you have multiple aesthetic objectives, more than one type of filler may be required. So, schedule a consultation to explore your options.

#3 Communicate Your Objectives

It’s extremely important to communicate your objectives. This will help us select the correct product. The location, depth, and type of filler used make all the difference. Feel free to bring photos of yourself before your aesthetic concern arose, or photos of what you’re hoping to achieve. We’ll advise you on a realistic outcome.

#4 Express Your Desire For Subtle Enhancements

In addition to expressing that you want to lift, smooth, firm, or add volume, be sure to communicate that you prefer natural looking filler results. It’s not uncommon to share your objectives as suggested above in a manner that comes across as a more pronounced outcome—when subtle is your preference. Be mindful that mild swelling is a side effect, so wait a few days to gauge your results.

#5 Follow Pre- and Post-Care Instructions

If you follow pre- and post-care instructions, you reduce the risk for a variety of complications. This includes decreasing the risk of displacing your filler.

  • You’ll need to skip your workout and strenuous activity for 24 hours.
  • Keep heat, steam, and direct sunlight to a minimum for 2 to 3 days.
  • Avoid putting pressure on your face or sleeping on your face for 7 days.
  • Avoid alcohol for 2 to 3 days, or until your swelling subsides.
  • Properly space other aesthetic treatments so that you don’t disrupt or degrade your filler.
